Tolerance, acceptance strangling America’s values

September 9, 2003

Excerpts:

We smile with contentment at the “progress” society has made by not harshly condemning public homosexual acts. I didn’t hear too much of a roar from anyone after Madonna kissed Britney Spears on the lips at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Aug. 28.

We praise as an “indication of tolerance and diversity” the latest “How to be Gay” course offered at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

. . . Considering that homosexuals cannot have or raise children, condoning and promoting the homosexual lifestyle is therefore fueling the anti-family offensive.

Families mean future tax dollars from children born into those families. It also means more consumers. Everything thrives when people multiply and are fruitful.

Smiley FaceSpears, Aguilera Contract Mouth Lice From Madonna Kiss (satire)

http://www.hollywoodpulse.com/archives3-32.html#Spears

Volume 3, Issue 31 (August 25, 2003)

Excerpt:

This literally leaves a dreadful taste in my mouth," Aguilera told HP. "It was like torture last week while we were rehearsing. Madonna insisted on full-on kisses with tongues and everything, every time, in order to 'keep it real.' Yeech! Keeping it real kept me in agony. That woman's mouth tasted like ass. And when I say ass, I'm not talking about the fresh-smelling, just-got-out-of-the-shower kind."

Spears wholeheartedly agreed with Aguilera's assessment.

The Kiss that Went 'Yuck' in the Night

http://bigjweb.com/artman/publish/article_924.shtml

Excerpt:

Has sex ever been more boring? But then it wasn't about sex, was it? It was about money, first and always. And probably about Madonna's need to put those competitive, star-struck little sex kittens in their place.

Madonna, aging dominatrix, power-tongues impudent strumpets and shows the world who's bossiest. What a woman. What a mom.

. . . What's more riveting than the kiss -- which, admittedly, would include the rate of mold growth in my basement -- has been reaction to this manufactured shock-o-rama. For the most part, there seemed to be an overriding ho-humness to the event. As one talking head put it: "What do you expect? It's Madonna."

Madonna: Queen of Humbuggery

http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=34460

September 6, 2003, by Sherrie Gossett

Excerpts:

humbug n.
Something intended to deceive; a hoax or fraud. A person who claims to be other than what he or she is; an impostor

buggery n.
Vulgar unnatural vice

. . . It [lesbian kissing] is, in fact, the cheapest bar trick in the world.

But when Madonna did it, the bobble-headed press galloped breathlessly away with fevered stories of a "show stealer!"

Madonna was clearly counting on an audience and press with the addled mindset of gnats in heat, and she was clearly not disappointed.

. . . Madonna is as progressive as the dawn of prostitution. Her shtick has been around since the beginning of time.

While her career antics have set the image of women in music back to the Ice Age, the protesting voices of feminists and gay leaders are nowhere to be heard, except as baying mules in her stable of sycophantic praise.

. . . Time to let that tinfoil crown of yours crumple up and blow off your pointy little head, Madonna. You are unexciting and weak, tawdry and tiresome.

Step down from the tinsel throne and let the real female talent show the world how it's done.

The most corporate kiss ever

by Marina Hyde (from The Guardian)
Wednesday September 3, 2003

Excerpt:

With the music industry ever so slightly less laissez-faire than it used to be, one can only imagine the armies of business-schooled marketing experts who number-crunched long into the night to calculate the precise financial gain this momentary lip merger would bring to each involved party.

Madonna's already on the family blacklist, says anti RIAA Mom

http://www.p2pnet.net/article/7708

Excerpts:
"As for this household, we will uphold the consumer's right to privacy and protection under the law and hereby cease to purchase any CD of any artist or label who is allied with the RIAA and against the consumer."

Madonna is already on the family blacklist, and has been since the latter's notorious WTF protest in which she larded the Net with fake mp3s supposedly ripped from her then new "American Life" album. Instead of a vocal track, downloaders got Madonna asking - "What the f**k do you think you're doing".

Since then, all Madonna's CDs have been burned, "and my daughter, 13, no longer listens to Madonna either on the radio or at home," says the woman. "She turns it off."

"I want the RIAA to understand that this is not just the fight of a few offending teenagers any longer. They have escalated it a right to privacy issue now...

Che Guevara Image Still Sells: Madonna in Che Guervara's Beret (also mentions Patty Hearst and Tania Guevara)

Article showing how Madonna used Che and Tania Guervara's imagery and likeness for her American Life CD, for cheap publicity. Excerpt:

With Madonna, the beret functions in similar ways.

However, given the motives of the artist and the marketing machine behind the publicity, it becomes clear that the beret is a co-opted symbol, a referent "dislocated." The beret becomes a posturing, or, as Madonna might have put it a decade earlier, a "voguing" of a previous icon.

The beret helps Madonna package a product that promises to be an investigation of culture, gender roles, societal attitudes, cowboys, dance, fashion, and war. [but] . . . it becomes a symbol of commercially-motivated metamorphosis . . .

Excerpt:

"What you are looking at is Madonna, whose career is in decline at the moment... latching on to the new generation - it's literally kissing up to the next generation," says Mast. "Here's Madonna, who can't cause controversy any more, so she goes for the three-way leso kiss."

Pity Madonna, career on the slide, betrayed by a kiss

Excerpts:

Madonna kissing Christina Aguilera
Above: Madonna locking lips with Christina Aguilera 2003 VMA

The utterly contrived, lingering kisses with which Madonna chose to draw the cameras at the MTV Awards show that she is desperate to revive our waning interest, writes Sam Leith

Britney Spears and Madonna

The problem is, we have lost interest in Madonna. But Madonna has not lost interest in our interest. Hence the lingering, sexy, utterly contrived kisses with which she chose to draw the cameras at the MTV Awards . . . The headlines that this gap-toothed, career-on-the-slide, ageing pop legend had in mind will have been "Madonna in sexy snogfest", not "Madonna anoints chosen successor - and it's Britney!"

TV Kiss Just a Shock Tactic

by Jasmine Bridges of the Daily Lobo

Sept 18, 2003

Excerpts:

Still, recent record sales have shown a waning interest in what she [Madonna] has to say - that is, if she has anything left to say at all.

As Madonna shoved her tongue down the throats of America's favorite pop princesses [Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera], you could almost hear the death rattle of a career in desperate need of resuscitation. For once, Madonna was a step behind.

It can only be called a sad scramble for media hype - Madonna performing her latest single from a poorly received release [American Life] in a black tuxedo groom get-up to show she's just as relevant as her pop star brides Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.

. . . . The thing about relying on shock to sell records - as opposed to sincerely hoping to change stale conventions - is it quickly loses its novelty.

As Madonna left the stage after her desperate and ultimately tiresome stunt, she forgot one thing - sexuality is not a disposable fashion statement. . . .

Madonna-Britney kiss angers Stevie

By NUI TE KOHA, from the Herald Sun

Sept 19, 2003

Excerpts:

STEVIE Nicks rates the notorious Madonna-Britney kiss as the most obnoxious television moment ever.

"First of all, Madonna is too old to be kissing someone who is 22," the Fleetwood Mac singer told the Herald Sun.

. . . . Nicks revealed Madonna asked Jennifer Lopez to be in the smoochy routine, but J.Lo told Madge to kiss something else.

Excerpts:

Involving her 6-year old daughter [Lourdes] in the obnoxious TV shenanigans with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera [at the 2003 Video Music Awards show] is a desperate attempt to hook the younger set as Madonna ages and fans like me fade away. Madonna's talents are many, including the double standard . . .

Usher Says Britney Spears a Fool For Kissing Madonna on VMA Show

Teen Music.com / April 13, 2004

R+B superstar Usher has branded Britney Spears a "fool" for kissing Madonna at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.

The outspoken Yeah singer thinks the infamous televised kiss was "ignorant", and says it marked his worst showbiz moment last year.

Pop Singer George Michael Disapproves of Madonna-Britney-Christina Kiss

March 22, 2004 / Web India

Comments by me are in bold face and are in brackets:

British pop legend George Michael has rebuked Madonna of staging her famous onstage kiss with Britney Spears, to sell more copies of her album [Well, duh, of course that's why Madonna kissed Spears and Aguilera].

The bizzare episode, when the pop diva smooched with Britney and Christina Aguilera, stunned fans at the MTV music awards, last year.

And George is convinced it was just a callous attempt to gain publicity and raise the profile of her American Life LP [Again: NO DUH].

The cynical star says, "I have great respect for Madonna [And I have zero respect for her] but I was a bit horrified about that MTV thing."

He further added "What was she doing snogging someone half her age with tits a foot higher than hers? You are Madonna, you don't need to do this stuff."

"It really smacked to me of 'Oh dear, my album isn't selling', so within six weeks of them working that out, you see her on stage with Missy Eliot and Christina Aguilera and Britney," George Michael was quoted as saying by ratethemusic.com

The irate star further expressed his disappointment and said "I just thought she didn't need to do that. I don't actually think it's a bad album [George, you're being far too charitable. It was an awful record]. It's ambitious lyrically for her and I quite like it as a producer."(ANI)

Madonna: Naked to the World (Dartmouth Review)

by J. Lawrence Scholer / December 2001

Excerpts:

To elevate the story of Madonna to legend and myth is more than bad writing and hyperbole; it gives credence to a life-story that isn’t all that monumental.

. . . Her entire life is a staged act — from her marriages to Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie to, sadly, her children. Even now, as she claims to be the consummate mother, she is just putting on a public relations spectacle.

Who can believe she is telling the truth when she says, ‘I am much more puritanical than people think’? There is nothing puritanical about Madonna, whether she is hitchhiking naked or feigning masturbation with a crucifix—as she did during her ‘Like a Virgin’ tour.

. . . She has built her career and fame on shameless performances and sex, a choice that has made millions for her and her biographers.

Madonna is a selfish woman, who has focused solely on her fame. She has left trusting friends in her wake.

The characteristics of the new, improved maternal Madonna are hard to find. At one recent concert, Madonna wore a shirt that said ‘MOTHER’ on the front. How nice, the audience must have thought: Madonna has changed. Then she turned around, and the crowd saw her back. ‘F-CKER,’ the shirt said. Same Madonna.

Madonna's new song: "Trash My Whole Career"
by J. Edward Tremlett, Columnist

May 30, 2003

Excerpts:

Some of us long-time fans wonder about the girl. Sometimes she's got it, and when she does it's just so right and right-on (the 'Ray of Light' CD being a prime example). And sometimes she doesn't, and then nothing she does comes across well.

Unfortunately, that holds for just about everything she's done lately. So far we've got: one lack-luster album, with a terrible remake of an American classic; a "controversial" video that was hardly controversial in this day and age; a less than impressive James Bond theme; a really off cameo in that otherwise-good James Bond Movie; A really, really, really bad movie of her own; an even more disappointing album; and a controversial video that she pulled, rather than run, for fear of it being "misunderstood."

Madonna and the hunger for renown

http://charleston.net/stories/022003/tho_20prbtcol.shtml

by Bill Thompson

Feb 20, 2003

Excerpts:

Granted, faux-feminist Madonna is a pop "phenomenon," not a serious artist, and not too many years removed from her origins as an idol of the post-pubescent set. ...

You want powerful women? Great. So do we. But how about one of substance?

. . . . As Hartford Courant critic Joe Harrington so aptly put it in his riposte to author/Madonna worshipper Gerri Hirshey ("We Gotta Get Out of This Place"), "Hirshey sees Madonna as the ultimate female liberator. As a result, Hirshey subjects us to pronouncements including: 'Let us succinctly regard her as a leather-bustiered Hale-Bopp that hurtled smack into the Information Age at an astrologically and technologically propitious moment and rendered us all slightly awe-struck.' Speak for yourself, Gerri.

Hirshey might believe Madonna's media-whore persona was a godsend for women in general, but there are just as many critics who find her facile dalliances with postmodern styles to be posturing of the worst kind.

Hirshey perpetually makes the big mistake of a lot of postmodern critics: She fails to realize that when the artist in question is doing what amounts to garbage, his or her so-called 'innovations' don't matter."

Madonna insulting Jewish community - Rabbi says

from Ealing Times; by a Staff Reporter. Sept 17, 2003

Excerpt:

A rabbi has poured scorn on Madonna's newly-released children's book, which she says was inspired by a mystical branch of Judaism.

. . . Madonna's mystical dabbling has led her to donate a reported £3.5 million to the Kabbala Centre in Mayfair which she attends regularly, but among Orthodox Jews, the study of Kabbala is often frowned upon unless the student is over 40 and well versed in the Torah.

"She will be insulting herself and all of the Jewish community," said Rabbi Schochet.

Kabbala operates within a system w[h]ere science and philosophy intertwine, but Rabbi Schochet believes the pop star, and many of her Hollywood buddies, have transformed faith into a fashion fad.

"If she purports to be explaining Kabbala then she has obviously lost the plot.

"Kabbala is an integral part of the Jewish faith which is esoteric and theocratic. You need years of study to understand it," he said.

No Talent Hack Endorses No Hack Talent

Madonna is an old hag and Britney Spears is her bitch

Excerpts:

The new video for "Me Agianst The Music" confirms one things for me-Britney may not be over but Madonna is. She looked so stupid Micheal Jackson is probaly opening up a room in Neverland Ranch so she can put herself out to pasture. I'm going to get some more screen captures of the video so i can show you how utterly stupid Madonna looked.

[In the Britney Spears video] Madonna was playing the man and bitchy brit was her lady. . . I'm gonna say this-Britney may be spared the wrath as of yet but the axe will not excape madonna's back.

She's done. it's really sad too. Madonna was a very talented woman. She could get people to talk about her just by wear the right pants. I don't know what happened to her.

Maybe she just lost her edge. You have to want to stay on top kids. You can't just think "I'm always going to be here" Micheal jackson thought that and he's pretty much gone now. Madonna used to be fearless now however she does have a fear. I think it was always there. It's her achellies heel so to speak-Madonna fears being forgotten.

And look what is happening the weirder madonna get's the more they forget her. Madonna i'll give you some advice and i won't even make you pay for it-Cut the weird crap and do some real soul searching.
